What participants and winners make in the Diamond League

As kenyans we pride ourselves for producing some of the worlds all time atheletes. The list spans from the all time great Paul Teregat, the female sensation Pamela Jelimo and even the world record holder Eliud Kipchoge. However we also have fairly okay athletes whose names don't neccesarily ring a bell when mentioned. Most of this fairly good atheletes plight their trade in the Diamond circuits.

The circuit was first promulgated in the year 2010.The circuit begins from May and runs all through to September. It is comprised of about fifteen circuits where by seven male events and seven female place takes place. The main reason why the circuit are held annually is basically to facilitate the promotion of athletics in areas other than europe. This has seen some of the leagues events held in China, morroco and even Qatar. 

Participants get to complete in the Diamond disciplines to book themselves points into the Diamond league final. This new changes in the point awardimg system ensures that the winner of the finals that are held in Brussels and Zurich taking the entire prize money. Hellen Obiri is one of the most consisten Kenyan diamond league winners.

Winners of the Diamond league winners make in kenyan shillings. To win the Diamond league discipline( events all year round prior to the finals) one would make 10000$ which is around 1000, 000 Kenyan Shillings. If one wins the Diamond League finals he or she makes 50000$ this is equivalent to 5000, 000 kenyan shillings. Their is prize money that runs upto the eighth position who gets 2000$ in the finals which is equal to 200000 Ksh and 1000$ in the disciplines. With such money up for grab it is no wonder why new upcoming athletes are keen on the Diamond League races.
