The last round of group games in Cameroon's 33rd Africa Cup of Nations has begun, with Cameroon extending their lead in Group A with a draw.
After defeating Ethiopia 4-1 to advance to the next round, hosts Cameroon increased their points in the Ground A log by one point after drawing with 90th Cape Verde in their last Group A match.
Aboubakar, the host's skipper, put the hosts ahead 39 minutes into the game with his fifth goal of the season. Cape Verde equalized only 8 minutes into the second half via Mendes Rodriguez, who never ceased in his management.
Aboubakar squandered Cameroon's clear-cut opportunity midway in the second half, as Cape Verde held on to the Draw to create a qualification opportunity for themselves.
Burkina Faso also advanced to the next round following a well-deserved draw with Ethiopia. Bayala's first-half score seemed to be enough to sink weak Ethiopia, who fell 4-1 against Cameroon, but Kebede's second-half penalty convert ensured Ethiopia also had a point in the AFCON 2021, as they exited on a decent note.
Although Burkina Faso and Cape Verde ended with four points apiece, Burkina Faso's 1-0 victory against Cape Verde in their second match placed them ahead of the Blue Sharks in the final Group A game, behind Leader Cameroon by three points each. In Group A, only Ethiopia refused to win a single match.
Cameroon will now play the third-placed nation in Group C, D, or E. Finally, Cape Verde may be considered one of the finest third-placed countries
Who do you believe Cameroon should play in the round of 16? There are no two ways about it, they will play a lower-ranked side, but Sudan might be the team based on their tournament records.
