Manchester City were stunned 1-0 at London by Tottenham Hotspurs to start their 2021/22 Premier League with a defeat. The defending Champions started £100 Million valued new signing Jack Grealish but he could not score or create any goal. Tottenham Hotspurs dominated the counter-attacks but Manchester City were lucky to keep a goalless draw at halftime. Tottenham brought on Lo Celso, Doherty, Romero on for Bergwijin, Tangamga & Hojbjerg in the second half as substitutes. Son scored the only goal of the game in the 55th minute after clever assist from Bergwijin to gift the hosts a 1-0 victory. Manchester City tried to salvage a point by bringing in Gabriel, Kevin De Bryune & Zinchenko for Sterling, Maharez & Mendy but all they failed to score. After the 1-0 Victory, Tottenham Hotspurs climbed up to position 10 with 3 points while Manchester City dropped to position 13 in the Premier League table.
Westham United saw off Newcastle United 4-2 at St James Park to clinch all the 3 points in their opening Premier League fixture. Westham United goals were scored by Antonio, Souceck, Benrhama & Cresswell while Newcastle United consolation goals were scored by Wilson & Murphy. After the 4-2 victory Westham United climbed up to position 4 with 3 points & 4 goals while Newcastle United dropped to position 15 in the Premier League table.
