There are several African players that have lit up the premier league like George Weah, Mohamed Salah, Didier Drogba, Sadio Mane among others. There is no doubt the African continent is continuing to give birth to talented footballers who will find their way into arguably the world's best football league.
In this article I bring to you one African player that has scored the most goals ever since the premier league began in the 1800s.
1)Mohamed Salah
Sometimes called 'African Messi', Mo Salah is one of the most feared forwards in the premier league. The Egyptian had a short spell with Chelsea from 2014-2016 but he is and will be best known for his time at Liverpool after joining in 2017.Having played 207 games,the Egyptian has scored 186 goals, the most by any African players to play in the premier league. Salah broke Didier Dgroba's record to become an all time African highest scorer in 2021 when they thrashed their rivals Manchester United 5-0 at Old Trafford.
2) Sadio Mane
Despite shockingly leaving Liverpool last summer, it cannot be disputed that Mane is a Liverpool legend. Mane was a tireless runner who happened to be a prolific forward as well. He had a brief but successful spell at Southampton and then joined Liverpool. At Anfield he patterned with Sala to form one of the most fearsome duo the premier league has ever had.In 2019,Sadio Mane was proud to have been voted by Lionel Messi for FIFA player of the year,though he did not win it. But how many goals did the Senegalese legend score in the EPL before leaving last summer?Well, Mane was capped 369 times and scored 153 goals in the premier league.
3) Didier Drogba
After arriving from Marseille in 2004 courtesy Mourinhno, Drogba was less known but later became a house hold name in the premier league. He was integral in the Blues team as he helped them win 4 premier league titles. Just like the 2 mentioned above,Drogba was such a fearsome striker that terrorized premier league defenses with Arsenal suffering most. The Ivorian played EPL 309 games and scored 124 goals.
