Ken Block is a professional rally driver with the Hoonigan Racing Division, as well as a co-founder of DC Shoes and a professional skateboarder.
The professional rally driver and YouTube star died in a snowmobile accident, his Hoonigan Racing team announced. He passed away at still the young age of 55, while his career was still at its peak leaving behind a family, Lucy, his wife, and three children.
The accident occurred at 2 p.m. when Block was riding a snowmobile down a steep slope in Wasatch County, Utah, according to the Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office.
The snowmobile upended and landed on top of Block, the Sheriff’s Office said, and he was later pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the accident.
“Mr. Block was riding with a group but was alone when the accident occurred,” a statement from the Sherriff’s Office said.
He is known for his stunt driving videos and his Gymkhana series, in which he performs complex drifting and tire-smoking maneuvers in high-powered sports cars. Block has also competed in various rallies and rallycross events around the world.
Block also became well-known for the Gymkhana YouTube series, in which he performed driving tricks and drifts in several cities around the US and abroad.
