Four players that Chelsea should target in January 2023

Chelsea will need to sign a number of players this January in order to start competing for the Champions League spot and major trophies such as FA and Champions League , after 2022 World Cup .Here are four signings the Blues should cash in to book their UEFA Champions League spot and challenge for both FA Cup and Premier League.

Leonard Trossard

A player Potter really likes after the two enjoyed a successful relationship when working at Brighton. The 27-year-old showed his class recently as he starred in the Seagulls' 4-1 win over Chelsea last weekend.

Trossard can play in a front-three, perhaps where he's more natural, but he has also shown his ability to play as a left wing-back for club and country. He recently admitted he would leave the Amex Stadium if the opportunity presented itself in what seemed like a come-and-get-me plea to interested clubs – one of them thought to be Chelsea. Trossard can be best fit in the Chelsea's Left Wing.

Jaoa Felix

Atletico Madrid star Joao Felix has delivered a significant update on his future with Chelsea among the clubs interested in signing the 23-year-old. Following Portugal's World Cup last-16 win over Switzerland, Felix suggested he plays far better for his national team than Atletico because of the "favourable conditions" he has when playing for Portugal.

The Atleti forward has been linked with a move away from the Wanda Metropolitano, with Los Rojiblancos chief executive Gil Marin believing a January exit is "reasonable" to expect. Joao Felix has scored 33 goals for Atletico Madrid since arriving from Benfica for €126million in 2019 - a tally only bettered by Luis Suarez (34) during that span. But the 23-year-old has a frosty relationship with Simeone, with the pair reportedly falling out earlier this season.

Danzel Dumfries

Denzel Dumfries was absolutely brilliant for The Netherlands today as they beat the USA comfortably in a 3-1 win, and spoke about the interest from Chelsea in an interview after the game. Chelsea are interested in both Dumfries and his fellow Dutch right-back Jeremie Frimpong, as they look to sign someone to provide competition for Reece James in the coming seasons.

Dumfries is a target for Chelsea, and that performance today against the United States could be a defining moment in whether Chelsea move for him. The player is likely to be open to a move, and will be available for around £35million from Inter Milan, which is a great price for a player of his quality in today's market.

Mohammed Kudus

Mohammed Kudus was impressive for Ghana during the World Cup despite the African team being knocked out, and his stocks automatically rose due to his performances. Kudus is a player of massive interest for Chelsea, and the club may attempt to sign him in January as they aim to sign the best young players in the world with their new recruitment plan.

The Ajax star scored two goals in three matches and has carried forward his good form from his club side. So far this season, the 22-year-old has scored 10 goals and registered two assists in 21 games across all competitions.

Kudus has scored an impressive four goals in the Champions League, including strikes against Premier League giants Liverpool and current Serie A leaders Napoli. The Ghanaian’s versatility is a huge asset for his team as he has the ability to play in midfield as an advanced playmaker, out on the wings or even up front on his own.
