Gor Mahia, who are the FKF cup holders, are set to travel to Cairo, Egypt to play their 1st leg of the CAF confederation cup tie against Sudanese side AL Alhly Merowe in a match that will be played on Friday night.
The team will be hoping to get a positive result before finishing the job in Nairobi in the return leg.
Mark Harrison, the head coach, only has a limited number of players to pick from so as to have his first 11 since only 16 players made the cut on the CAF register on time. The new ones failed to make it owing to the ban imposed by FIFA. The
experienced player, Boniface Oluoch, will also not be able to play since he is serving a four-match ban for reacting aggressively in a previous match away to Napsa Stars of Zambia. That means Gad Mathew is expected to retain his place in between the sticks with Caleb Omondi on the bench.
John Ochieng, a defensive midfielder, will also be available for selection after recovering from an ankle injury sustained in a match played against Tusker in the Super Cup duel.
The head coach has said that he is confident they will be posing positive results and that he will have to work with the available players since the rest have been locked out.
We wish them all the best.
