Benson Omala's story is every Kenyan high school footballers dream. Being signed by KPL champions, Gor Mahia, while still in highschool and then getting a dream move to a European league just a month after high school is not every footballers luck. Omalla, a Kisumu day student before April 2021, is in Sweden playing for Linkoping FC on a 6 months initial loan deal from Gor Mahia
So far he has featured for them in 2 games, those who know his capability will ask, how many goals has he already scored? The answer is, he is still yet to score.
Although it is still early to wonder why he is yet to score, Omalla believes that it is his playing position, that may have slowed his form in front of goal. Naturally Omalla is used to playing as a striker and for Linkoping he has so far been used as a midfielder and thus it is hard to easily score from that position.
Overlooking these positional change, we should hope just like he rocked with Gor Mahia and the Kenya U20's, Rising Stars, sooner or later Omalla will click and be the player who saves Linkoping from relegation.
