Brentford have reportedly made contact with Arsenal’s transfer target Aaron Hickey. Rumor has it that the Bees have tables an €11 Million offer to Bologna who are still waiting for Arsenal to counter the opening bid made by their Premier League rivals. Arsenal’s interest in the young left back was triggered by Nuno Tavares’ lack of sharpness at left back position last season and as a result, have decided to send the 23 year old on loan in the summer to aid in his development.
Aaron Hickey recently revealed that he has no problems in joining another club next season but he is currently focused on playing for Bologna. Brentford have apparently been monitoring the player for a long time, even before Arsenal’s reported interest, and have resolved that the only way they can snatch under Arsenal’s noses is to launch a quick bid for him.
Mikel Arteta has some big calls to make in the summer as he further tries to strengthen the current squad for next season. William Saliba is one of the players who is expected to play a big role at the club next season and it seems that the Spaniard manager has finally given him the benefit of the doubt to play at the defense alongside Rob Holding, Ben White and Gabriel Magalhaes. This now leaves Pablo Mari with a lot of questions which will soon be addressed by Arteta once he returns from his holiday.
As for the number of striker that ought to be signed this summer, it seems that Arsenal will only sign one striker who will help Eddie Nketiah in attack. The initial plan was to sign two strikers but after Eddie Nketiah’s contract extension, it seems that only one will fit the bill for next season.
Nuno Tavares clearly has a lot of thinking to do after recent rumors revealed that he is bound to leave the Emirates after just an year at club. No club has shown interest in signing him next season but soon the offers are expected to stream in. One of the things Arteta wants to refine in the player is his instinctive attacking runs which have proven to be detrimental more than once.
