Kinoru stadium in Meru County is on it way to be a fully completed stadium. It is now on its finalisation steps to make it ready for hosting all national and international sports activities. According to Sports Ministry through CS Amina Mohammed, the facility is budgeted to cost Sh900 million since its commissionent in 2014 to it's completion. "The national government continues to invest in sports as a platform for nurturing talent, promoting healthy living, employment, entertainment and promotion of positive pride of belonging," said CS Amina during an inspection visit in July 2020.
The first phase construction was completed in the year 2018 where the terraces and it's canopy had been finalized. The Stadium is set to be a 30,000 seater capacity making it one of the largest stadia in the country. The massive upgrades that were required to be done, have already been completed by the end of 2020. There are four changing rooms, two VIP lounges, conference room, media tribune just to mention a few. There are other additional pitches for more other sporting activities such as basketball, netball, tennis and volleyball.
The facility is set to promote sports activities from the central region as well as narturing talents. It will also going to create ground for investments through sporting activities hence generating revenue to the government. Upon its completion, Kinoru Stadium will be capable of hosting both national and international games. The Kenya Premier League games are also expected to embarke to the facility.
