Manchester United has been exceptional defensively since Dutch manager Erik Ten Hag took over as the clubs head coach last summer. He has been a miracle worker for the Red Devils at the back and the club fans have started having hope in the team again.
United has been one of the few teams in the Premier League which has looked better at the back and has been difficult to concede goals no matter the team they play. They were conceding numerous goals last season and they struggled to keep clean sheets.
Erik Ten Hag has brought the spark back in Manchester United's midfield which has kept on getting better after every game. Despite United signings some brilliant defenders in the last few years they have faced a hard time to get good centre-back.
Most of these players have struggled at Old Trafford and some of them have ended up becoming big flops. This season Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane have been the two main defenders for Manchester United this season.
They have been significant in the team looking better at the back and have helped the Red Devils do well defensively. However, among the two centre-backs French international Raphael Varane has been the defender who has similar qualities to those of club legend Rio Ferdinand.
The 28-year-old has been brilliant defensively and has been one of the reasons the Red Devils has nit been conceding many goals this season. He has restored the team's strength at the back which has greatly contributed to the team doing well.
Varane's strength, speed, height, ability to defend, real the game and lead from behind has made Manchester United's defense look good again which are similar to those of club legend Raphael Varane
