Why Chelsea Might not qualify for The Champions League Despite the Big Victory Against Leicester

The blues yesterday had a great night following their savage revenge to Leicester City who on Saturday strongly defeated them to carry the FA Cup at the Wembley Stadium.

Goals from Antonio Rudiger and Jorginho enabled Thomas Tuchel's men to jump third in the table with 67 points. One goal from Kelechi Iheanacho was not enough to give the visitors a point at Stamford Bridge and therefore they ended fourth in the table with 66 points.

A win for the reds who are today playing Burnley will however see them jump fourth where goals difference will be separating them. Despite the huge win, there are however two ways in which the blues can be eliminated in the champions league for next season in the remaining matches.

Chelsea might finish fifth if they happen to lose their last match against Aston Villa while both Leicester and Liverpool win. Both will clinch 69 points each and Chelsea will remain with 67.

If they finish fifth and on 29th lose to Manchester City in the UEFA finale, they will still not qualify since the winning team is the only one that is guaranteed a Champions League spot even if they finish outside the top four.
