How Manchester United could line up next season with Christian Eriksen's transfer

Manchester United are closing in on their first two signings of this transfer window with Christian Eriksen and Tyrell Malacia set to complete the switch to Old Trafford. Eriksen has verbally agreed to join United until June 2025, with senior sports journalist Fabrizio Romano saying they are now preparing contracts for the versatile midfielder to sign. The Denmark international is a free agent after three months at Brentford which made top clubs across Europe admire him. Eriksen is best known for being s playmaker during his term at Tottenham but that is not the only position he could thrive.

Ten Hag could use him in the attacking midfielder role which he is widely known for mainly to avoid over-reliance on Bruno Fernandes. Eriksen is one of the most creative players in the premier league and with the busy fixture schedule coming, it is vital that Manchester United rotate their squad more rendering him valuable to the club.

Another role in which the 30-year-old has experience is a deep-lying midfielder, something that he had experience in at Inter Milan. Many of his features at Brentford were as part of a midfield trio. It means United could use a 4-3-3 tactical approach.
