Chelsea are on the verge of getting expelled out of the English Premier League following latest developing story on the club's takeover. Former Chelsea owner Roman Abramovic has allegedly thrown the spanner on the Chelsea takeover with the Russian billionaire raising new demands as club searches for new owner.
The Russian oligarch wants his loan of £1.6 billion pains off despite UK's earlier statement that the billionaire won't receive any share of the money that is generated from the sale of the club. Abramovic who was the initial owner of Chelsea was sanctioned by the UK government and had his assets frozen after details emerged of his closeness to the Russian President Vladimir Putin.
However, the latest row between Roman Abramovic and the wannabe owners could lengthen the takeover process. As a result, Chelsea could receive heavy punishment by the Premier League and the club could be expelled from the Premier League. Chelsea are set to announce the new owner before the start of the 2022/23 EPL campaign. In case the takeover process takes long then the club could be out of the league by next season.
