Man Utd: Eriksen Touted Signing of the Year- Fernandes Likely to be Replaced in the First Eleven

Christian Eriksen has quickly stamped his place at Manchester United and that speaks volumes about his standards and pedigree as a professional player. The Danish international has been the silver lining at Manchester United this season owing to his impressive midfield creative skills that have bore more than enough goals for the club. He is yet to get off the mark for the club, but that is only a matter of time.

The 27 year old has managed to keep his critics shush after a tremendous run of form in recent weeks. With how he is now performing, fans have asked the manager to shift him to more a offensive role particularly as a replacement for Bruno Fernandes who seems to have a waned momentum. In agreement with the public demand, I think that Manchester United will reap more by relying on Eriksen as a #10 than Fernandes.

Eriksen was a key player for Spurs prior to his fall from grace at Inter Milan. He thrived in the #10 role thanks to his visionary passing and exquisite set piece skills that doubled the club’s offensive threat. At Inter Milan, his strengths were unfortunately masked because he was mostly played out of position as a central midfielder, a mistake which Ten Hag is currently committing at the club.

Bruno Fernandes standing on a frail twig…

Erik Ten Hag has a lot on his plate this season and underperformance is something that he is very much against in his squad. Bruno Fernandes has not been performing as expected in recent months and for that reason could be dropped in the not so distant future. Eriksen stands a great chance at replacing him but until that time comes, the Danish midfielder must continuously perform at untouchable levels.

Bruno Fernandes is a fantastic player, probably one of his kind but to be honest I think that his best days are past behind him now. He is not a lost cause however since by dropping him for Eriksen in the #10 role could serve it’s purpose as wake up call for the Portuguese midfielder.
