Following an argument at the Kenyan Bomas yesterday, William Ruto was announced as the next president by IEBC Chairperson Wafula Chebukati. His victory was marred by controversy though, as four IEBC officials pulled out and conducted a simultaneous press conference at the Serena hotel. The Serena team maintained that they would not accept responsibility for the outcomes as announced by IEBC Chairperson Wafula Chebukati. The team said at a briefing that the percentages added together are erroneous mathematically. The group went forward and refuted claims that Chebukati was unwilling to listen to anyone, even them, and that he did not pay attention to them. They added that the form 34c used to announce the results was opaque and omitted all information regarding the methodology used to generate the numbers. The team has flatly denied the findings, claiming that Chebukati alone was responsible for them. Prior to the inclusion of some constituencies, results were reportedly released by team Chebukati.
Today, Raila has addresses the nation and according to him and Azimio team, they have rejected results terming it as null and void. Raila said the matter is proceeding to the court since IEBC was not transparent about the whole tallying activity and they are accountable for what they term as 'wrong results' presented yesterday.
