Breaking: End of an Era for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Manchester United have parted company with manager Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer after a run of abysmal performance over the past couple of weeks.

United announce that Michael Carrick will now take charge of the team for forthcoming games, while Manchester United look to appoint an interim manager to the end of the season.

The club official club statement read Ole will always be a legend at Manchester United and it is with regret that they have reached this difficult decision. While the past few weeks have been disappointing, they should not obscure all the work he has done over the past three years to rebuild the foundations for long-term success.

Mike Phelan and Kieran McKenna will stay to assist Michael Carrick for the forthcoming games. United had no plans to replace the Norwegian but the 4-1 defeat at the hands of Watford made clear a change was inevitable.

Mauricio Pochettino, Zinedine Zidane and Eric Ten Haag are the leading candidates to replace Solskjaer.
