Johnstone Keffa Tasso was born on the 6th January 1965 in Jericho / Lumumba Nairobi. He has his ancenstral roots in Madivini Village Idakho Kakamega County, the same locality with the likes of soccer greats like Tonny Lwanga, Vincent Kwarula and Vincent Ateya(a celebrated radio personality).
Keffa started his education at Rabai Primary(then Shule rd primary) later procceding to Musingu High schools then KCCT for his Tertiary education.
‘Tass’ as he was foundly known on the pitch started his soccer career playing for Ray Bentos between 1978 and 83 the club that offered him the platform that enabled him get picked in the Nairobi youth select side together with the likes of John Shoto Lukoye John Odie ‘Kasongo’ who later became household names in the game.
Apparently, he was in the Musingu high school team that won the national secondary school championship in 1984 the same year he did his final exams.
The national secondary games was a launching pad for the duminitive midfielderthen proceeded to join the mighty AFC Leopards.
The first major challenge came immediately he landed in the ‘den’ when he participated in Cecafa club cup loosing to Mahia in the finals in Khartum Sudan in 1985.
The regional games initiated Keffa so well into the International stage, two years later the then permanent figure at the heart of the Leopards squad was drafted into the national team Harambee Stars teaming up with the likes of Ben Gachie, George Onyango Fundi.
At the national team, Johnstone became a commander with his great passing skills which enabled him make immense contribution during the qualifications and subsequent patricipation of the national soccer team in the AFCON 1988 after a month training in Brazil.
A second born in a family of 8, happily married with 3 kids a girl and 2 football playing boys, Adrian at Bethel University,Tennesse while Emmanuel is a candidate in Kakamega.
The soft spoken midfield wizard is currently residing in Virginia USA.
