The international break is here with us yet again, here in Africa, the world cup qualifiers will be going on. As for Harambee stars, they'll be having a double against Mali. Harambee Stars are currently 2nd on their group which also consisted of Uganda and Rwanda.
They began their campaign with a 0-0 draw against Uganda followed by another draw against Rwanda at Kigali. It ended in a 1-1 draw, now they are about to face African Giants Mali. The disappointing results saw Kenya parts ways with tactician Jacob Mulee after only 2 word cup qualifiers.
The Federation quickly went on to tie Turkish international Engin Firat as New Harambee stars coach on a 2 year contract. The new coach named a 34 man squad that he would later reduce. This time, Spanish Based Ismael Gonzalez, David Odhiambo and Simba SC defender are back to the team.
It appears that Firat wants to do things differently, we wait to see if he will make an instant impact to the team. He also handed US based midfielder Philip Mayaka his first call up after impressing for Colorado Rapids. Mali on their part began their qualifiers on a high as they beat Rwanda by a solitary goal.
Mali proves to be a tough test for Kenya considering that they failed to secure maximum points against weaker opponents. Fortunately the presence of big players like Olunga, Okumu and Marcelo will boost the confidence of other players.
