Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition leader Hon. Raila Odinga is congratulating The Lions of Teranga of Senegal for becoming the first African team in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar to qualify for the group of the last 16.
He says the resilience and determination shown by Senegalese players since their first game which they lost to the Netherlands has paid off and that they are ready to face tough teams in the group of 16.
“Even with the injured talisman Sadio Mane out of the tournament, Senegal players have proved to the world that they are not a pushover”, he added.
He wished the team the best of luck in their next match in the knock-out stage.
"Well in! The Lions of Teranga have done our continent proud, what a splendid display of football. Congratulations Senegal on qualifying for the Round of 16 at the."
The AFCON champions Senegal qualify for the World Cup Round of 16 after finishing 2nd in Group A with 6 points behind the Netherlands; Senegal won 2-1 against Ecuador today.
