On Tuesday evening, Senegal qualified for the first knockout stage of the 2022 Qatar world cup. This is after the teranga lions beat Ecuador 2-1 in a pulsating encounter that is arguably the best showing of the African champions at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha Qatar.
The important win gave Senegal six points enough to sit second place in group A where Netherlands led with seven having easily gone pass hosts Qatar in a 2- 0 win, a match played simultaenously with that of Senegal against Ecuador.
Former Kenyan prime minister Raila Amollo Odinga has since joined the rest of Africans in celebrating the Lions of Teranga noting that they have done Africa proud.

This comes days after the former Prime Minister indicated that he would only fly to Qatar for the global showpiece if an African team proceeds to the semi-finals.
The ODM party leader also declared support for all African nations participating in the tournament and it is not yet clear if he is still pursuing the option of flying to Qatar to watch the games.
