Recently there has been a rise if Americans acquiring football clubs in England and maintaining dominance in the league. Major clubs have been acquired by Americans with Chelsea beeing the most recent Todd Boehly and the consortium having completed the £3.25B acquisition. Todd Boehly becomes the latest American to acquire a major premier league club with his consortium.
Champions league runner's up and FA cup winners are also owned by the Fenway Sports Group a company founded in 2001 and stationed in the United States. The company is also the owner of Major League Baseball's Boston Red Sox. Mike Gordon is it's president.
Another American billionaire Stan Kroenke is the owner of London based club Arsenal FC. In 2007,Kroenke paid 30% of the controlling stake therefore attaining majority of the shares approximated to be 63% of the total shares. Stan Kroenke is also the owner of Rams football team.
The glazers family closes the list of top American billionaires owning English clubs. The club was bought by billionaire Malcolm Glazer in 2005 for £790M. Glazer unfortunately died in 2014 and the ownership of the club was left to his children.
Most of the American owners have had their clubs performing well both in domestic and European competitions. The American owners seems to be good investors who put sports at heart before profits and Money. Another thing with Americans they prefer building a team rather than buying big name players who might later unfortunately flop. A good example of a build up team is Liverpool.
