Arsenal have enjoyed an excellent start to the season, winning 11 games out of 12 in all competitions. Yesterday they registered their most recent win with a narrow 1-0 victory away to Bodo in Norway. Although they were far from their best, many factors can be pointed for that lackluster performance including but not limited to the artificial pitch and cold weather. But in the end, that did not matter as they now need just one point out of the PSV game next week at the Emirates.
The Gunners clash with Bodo/Glimt yesterday revealed one thing:Arsenal are a massive club world wide with a huge fan base. The fan base in Norway is crazy. They have an official supporters club in Norway and given that Odegaard who is captain for both Norway and Arsenal, this has only increased Arsenal's popularity over there. So many Bodo fans support Arsenal as well. They were confused on who to offer support last night. In fact the hierarchy at Bodo knowing the confusion it will cause in the stadium, they issued a statement saying: ''We have so many Arsenal fans in Norway. And many support both Bodo and Arsenal. We see it proper to remind you that Arsenal support will only be in the away end. This means we will ask you to remove scarves,caps,t-shirts,jackets etc that bear Arsenal Fc. Half and half scarves are the only exception''.
Well, this was any interesting official statement from Bodo and it just goes to show how big Arsenal are as a football club world wide. What are your thoughts on this statement by Bodo having to restrict their fans who support Arsenal as well?Do you think Arsenal is bigger than Manchester United world wide? I think so.
