Mikel Arteta recently defended his decision to exclude youngster Charlie Patino from the squad. He explained that he was very tempted to start the youngster yesterday but decided against it at the last minute because some squad players needed some playing time. He said that Patino was a decent player in the Academy but his time to join the Senior team has not yet come.
He however said that if a good opportunity comes, then he will definitely give him the chance without a second thought. He added that the Academy staff is doing a great job in nurturing him and he is looking forward to working with him very soon in the Senior team. Patino has been rumored to be the next player in line to join the Senior team from the Academy, something which is expected to materialize next month after his 18th birthday.
Arsenal’s legend Ian Wright showered praises on Arsenal’s defender Takehiro Tomiyasu to an extent of even naming him as Arsenal’s best transfer recruit in the summer. Wright added that Tomiyasu’s dominance in the right-wing is exceptional and he will definitely add depth and quality to Arsenal’s already airtight defense.
Wright continued to say that if Arteta can find a good pattern for Tomiyasu to make forward runs and get crosses in, then Arteta will have a replica of Kieran Tierney in the right-wing too. Wright also emphasized on Tomiyasu’s impressive duel wins where he pointed out that Tomiyasu’s impressive duel wins, both aerial and ground duels, make him a real force to reckon with at the back.
Arsenal striker Alexander Lacazette recently said that Arsenal players are doing what they can to reignite the flare that was in the squad during the latter stages of last season. He said that adequate preparations are being drafted so that this season improves from the last. He also said that whatever they are achieving now is because of the massive fan support that is behind them.
