Pulisic aims to prove doubters wrong; injury update
Fiorentina general manager Joe Barone has revealed that there is interest from England in Federico Chiesa but has insisted that Chiesa is concentrated on the task at hand at La Viola.
The highly rated 22-year-old Italian national team winger has also been heavily linked with moves to Inter and Juventus in recent months.
“Chiesa is a Fiorentina player. There are clubs knocking on the door for Chiesa, some of them are English,” he remarked in an interview with Milan based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, which appeared in today’s print edition.
“We will see what happens but for the moment we just need to finish the season and he is very concentrated on doing well for us.”
Barone was then quizzed on the future of midfield sensation Gaetano Castrovilli, who, like Chiesa, has also been linked with possible moves to both Inter and Juventus but Barone has poured cold water on the recent speculation in the media.
“As for Gaetano Castrovilli, he still has much to give for us and for Italian football, so he will remain in Florence.”
This season Chiesa has made 26 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored seven goals and provided five assists for his teammates. Castrovilli has meanwhile also made 26 appearances, in which he has scored three goals and tallied two assists.
Chelsea planning big-money move for versatile English midfielder
Chelsea are reportedly planning to make a big-money move for West Ham United defensive midfielder Declan Rice when the transfer window will be re-opened in the summer.
Despite the financial implications due to the coronavirus pandemic, the West London club could be in a position to continue with their plans this summer given their recent lack of activity.
However, according to The Mirror, it may take the sale of their key player N’Golo Kante to tempt the Blues into following up their interest in 21-year-old English midfielder.
Kante, who has been hindered by multiple injuries this campaign, has been rumoured with a switch to Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid that later has been as the clear favourite to lure the Frenchman at Santiago Bernabeu.
The report claims that Chelsea officials have identified Declan Rice as a direct replacement for the World Cup-winning midfielder.
Although the West Ham United are keen to retain the services of their most prized asset, who has been valued at £70m and the Blues must break the bank in order to lure him at Stamford Bridge.

£40m Man United signing reveals truth behind his decision to depart Chelsea
Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic said it was the ‘right moment’ to quit Chelsea in 2017 but says a full explanation of his decision to depart Stamford Bridge will come out one day.
The Serbia international joined the Red Devils in a £40 million deal in 2017 after protracted negotiations between the two clubs. Matic had been a vital component in the Blues’ title-winning campaign the previous year and the board’s decision to let him join a direct rival raised eyebrows.
But Nemanja has hinted that there were further reasons for his departure at Stamford Bridge, though he refused to fully divulge.
‘I was very happy at Chelsea, but I thought it was the right moment to change club,’ Nemanja told Football Beyond Borders.
‘There were reasons which are hard for me to say now. I will never forget my time there, but I’m a Manchester United player now.
Matic’s move to the Red Devils saw him reunited with Mourinho for the second time in his professional career.
The Portuguese boss purchased Matic from Liga NOS giants Benfica when he was at Chelsea back in 2014 and the Serbian is well known to be one of Jose’s favourite players.
Mourinho wanted the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Matic to help the other players adapt to his ways and the midfielder admits the Special One can be a nightmare if his side loses.
Quizzed whether Mourinho’s public persona fits his private one, Nemanja replied: ‘It depends. If you win, he’s the best guy ever. But if you lose, you’re hiding from him at the training ground. But he’s an amazing coach.’

A recent report suggests that the 33-year-old forward was ‘interested’ in making a move to a London-based club ahead of the 2020-21 season, and according to Corriere dello Sport, Mertens has his heart set to join Chelsea.
The Belgium international forward who has also been rumoured with a switch to Man Utd and Arsenal has managed to found back of the net 121 times in 311 games for his Serie A giants in all competitions.

Chelsea are expected to lose their attacking pair William and Pedro in the summer with both players in the final weeks of their deal at Stamford Bridge and Mertens could be a perfect replacement to either of them.
Federico Chiesa IS being pursued by the Premier League, confirms Fiorentina's director
Fiorentina's director general Joe Barone has revealed Premier League clubs are interested in signing winger Federico Chiesa.
The 22-year-old has been heavily linked with a move this summer, with Manchester United and Chelsea reportedly the favourites for his signature.
Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur were also believed to be interested, but recent reports have narrowed the race down to just four sides which also includes Inter Milan and Juventus.
But Barone revealed that while there is English interest for the Italy international, he remains focused on his immediate future and completing the season with the Serie A side.
'There are clubs knocking at the door for Chiesa, some of them who speak English… We'll see, for the moment we just need to finish the season and he is very concentrated on doing well for us.'
The comments comes after the player himself said last week he needs time to become a 'complete player' before he can think about moving to a bigger club.
'There are no negotiations, there is Fiorentina,' he told Corriere dello Sport.
'I focus on working every day, achieving immediate objectives, first and foremost securing safety. We just hope to get back to playing and the rest will follow.
'My objective is to improve in general, not just on a technical level, because I am the first to acknowledge that I need to become a more complete player.'
Chiesa - who was valued at £60million by Fioretina before the coronavirus crisis - has six goals and seven assists in 26 games across all competitions this season and has already racked up 17 caps for Italy.

It is added that the Blues are keeping an eye on the situation and they could make the move if Jurgen Klopp's side decide to switch their attention to strengthening other positions on the field.
The west London giants are anticipating a number of departures this summer and the likes of Pedro and Willian are expected to leave the club when their contracts expire.
Elsewhere, Michy Batshuayi may also head through the exit door and Lampard is said to be eyeing at least one high-profile addition to the attack ahead of next season.
Werner, who can play anywhere across the attack, has bagged 27 goals and 12 assists for Leipzig this term. He has already turned down a move to Bayern Munich.
Lampard’s secret player and how Chelsea are going to unleash him
Chelsea and Lampard both are confident in Loftus Cheek quality and we will be vital for Blues.
The entire football world is praying to get rid of the current suspension of the season due to the Coronavirus crisis. Stamford Bridge is planning a renovation by the end of the season. The set of new youngsters, Lampard’s tactical plans, and the transfer window. All of these attributes of the game waiting for the rest of the show remaining this season.
The squad is filled with enough young talents and Ruben Loftus-Cheek is one of the contenders among them. The English had a hard time this season missing out the season due to torn Achilles’ tendon injury that happened last May on a post-season fixture against New England Revolution. The 24-year-old midfielder grown up in the academy of Chelsea and got promoted to the first team in 2015 by boss Jose Mourinho. It was a title-winning season for Blues completing the fifth title in England.
He was the admirer of the team when he entered Stamford Bridge at the age of 19. He watches the great side of Didier Drogba and John Terry and learned the atmosphere of the club. The teenager got only 3 games in the Premier League in his debut season. After two years he moved to Crystal Palace on loan to get more games as well as exposure. It was that spell that bought out the real talent of the player. He played 25 games in Selhurst Park.
Loftus-Cheek returned to West London in the 2018/19 season and had a thrashing entry into Chelsea camp under Italian Maurizio Sarri. The return of the midfielder shown some new pieces of the game to the stands of Stamford Bridge. From the 40 appearances, he was able to find 10 goals and 5 assists.
Then the departure of Sarri happened and the club legend Frank Lampard took charge. Loftus-Cheek was at the peak of his playing career when the Englishmen took the driving seat. But he didn’t get a chance to impress the boss to make a claim. The miss of the entire season was painful for the player seeing his academy lads flying up in the pitch of Stamford Bridge.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek got the privilege of unexpected suspension of the season due to the health crisis. The break added extra minutes for his recovery. According to Football London, the player is fit for the rest of the season. He is waiting to impress Frank Lampard who is making the play in his style.
Chelsea midfield is relying on Kante-Jorginho duo while rumours are spreading across London on the continuation of both. Jorginho got a call from his old boss Sarri to take charge of Old Lady. Kante is finding difficulty to keep the consistency. The other two viable options are Mateo Kovacic and Billy Gilmour. The young blood Mason Mount has already proved his excellence with the ball and won the heart of Lampard.
Loftus-Cheek will face more competition in the camp to get into the first preference in the midfield. The youngster is already fighting for the spot in Lampard’s mission. The possible exits from the frontline leave vacancies to fill. But the boss won’t take too many rising stars in his attacking.
Anyway, the season restart is special for Loftus-Cheek. Chelsea has sealed the Champions League spot by the current conditions of the table. They are placed 4th in the competition three points clear of 5th placed Manchester United.
Chelsea striker signing takes twist as Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho launches bid
Chelsea are in danger of missing out on Victor Osimhen with the Lille striker reportedly the subject of a bid from Tottenham. The Blues are on the hunt for a new striker to help Tammy Abraham shoulder the goalscoring burden at Stamford Bridge, with Osimhen identified as a potential summer target.
Chelsea could benefit from missing out on Gosens due to transfer chain
The Nigerian is under contract until 2024 but is wanted by a host of European clubs after 18 goals and six assists in 38 appearances across all competitions.
Chelsea had supposedly been leading the race for Osimhen, and earlier this month French outlet Telefoot claimed an unknown club had submitted an €85million (£75m) bid for the 21-year-old.
It has been suggested that this club was Chelsea, while Sky Sports have previously reported that two Premier League clubs and a La Liga side had all tabled bids for Osimhen
But Abdellah Boulma, chief editor of Cahiers du Football and L’Observateur, cast doubt on the latest Telefoot report by suggesting the bid was from Tottenham and former Blues boss Jose Mourinho.
