Arsenal: Lacazette Insistent on Leaving, Auba Misses Sitter, Smith Rowe Downgrades

Alexander Lacazette

Despite getting frequent EPL minutes, Alexander Lacazette seems to be transfixed on his decision to part company with Arsenal at the end of the season after he disclosed to the media that his agent is considering other options for him for the upcoming summer transfer window. Recently Mikel Arteta revealed that talks with the Frenchman are being held behind closed doors and once a tangible decision has been made by both parties, then he will express his sentiments on Lacazette’s future at Arsenal. Lacazette is yet to fully impose himself on the Arsenal scoring list but his performances have caught the eye of fans and neutrals on more than one occasion.

Against Manchester United, he is expected to be among the starting eleven in place of Martin Odegaard who is clearly struggling on rediscovering his mojo at Arsenal. Going forward, fans expect Arteta to at least extend Lacazette’s contract by a year or two because his strong mentality is what is needed at the club.

Pierre Emerick Aubameyang

Pierre Emerick Aubameyang’s woes took a turn for the worse yesterday after he missed a sitter in yesterday’s match. Considering how close he was with the goal and the pace at which the ball bounced back at him, missing the sitter was a shocker to the fans and pundits. He however put more effort afterward but failed to hit the target on the rare occasions he was open to a goal-scoring opportunity.

Mikel Arteta said that he will not castigate Aubameyang for the miss because he knows that the Gabonese will try to overcome his mistake in training next week. He even said that because of Aubameyang’s miss, his teammates gained the urge to suppress their opponents even more.

Emile Smith Rowe

Emile Smith Rowe was, in my opinion, average in yesterday’s showdown against Newcastle but came close to scoring twice in the first half. On the left-wing, Nuno Tavares seems to have dominated the shift in attack and defense because Smith Rowe was barely noticed. In the upcoming match, fans expect Smith Rowe to be more active and contest for the ball even more.
