Ferguson Rotich Appointed as The Goodwill Ambassador For The Fight Against Drug Abuse in Kericho

The 2020 Tokyo Olympic Silver Medalist Ferguson Rotich has been appointed the Goodwill Ambassador for the fight against drug and substance abuse in Kericho County. The appointment has been made by Kericho County Governor Professor Paul Chepkwony when he received the middle-distance runner in his office.

The 2013 IAAF World Relays Gold medalist will now be the champion and voice against the growing menace of drug and substance abuse among the youth in Kericho County. His recognition was witnessed by leaders from Kericho County including Kericho Deputy Governor Dr. Lily Ng'ok Kirui and Hon. Paul Chirchir, his Member of County Assembly (MCA) representative.

In recognition of the role played by sports personalities in the socio-economic developments in Kericho County, Governor Paul Chepkwony announced the immediate renaming ot The Kericho Green Stadium to Wilson Kiprugut Chumo Stadium in honour of the legendary athlete who won Kenya the first Olympic medal in 1964 in Tokyo, Japan.
