Chelsea Lacklustre Midfield Raises Alarm As Blues Claim a Shaky Win

Chelsea yesterday snatched unconvincing win against Crystal Palace in a derby clash. Graham Potter was in charge of his first Premier League match as a Chelsea manager. He opens the chapter on clean slate having won against Crystal Palace for the first time in his career. His idea is clear for the players but a big void remains in the implementation part.

The Blues commenced on high note before they were silenced by Palace opener. The new formation needs a good cover of the defense which was not accorded by the existing midfield. Kepa Arizabalaga was forced into random saves because of a lazy midfield. A great concern remains with the plans of the owners.

A dip in midfield was facilitated by Jorginho and Mason Mount. The two were insignificant in the midfield. Mount was expected to create chances for the hungry forwards. The opposite was observed since he was making aimless runs. The Italian on the other hand was expected to decide the tempo of midfield. He was physically outplayed which exposed the defense line. An urgent care should be done to the midfield to adjust the current imbalance.
