5 National Events That Shook The Country in 2021

The year 2021 was filled with fun, surprising and shocking events for Kenyans. From hosting the World Safari Rally Championships in Naivasha, hosting the Kip Keino Classic in Nairobi to moments such as the BBI ruling, 2021 was a busy year. Here are several moments that will remain forever in the history of Kenya;

1. World Rally Championships

In the month of June 2021, the whole world was watching Naivasha and Kenyans were there in person to watch the Safari Rally Championships. The event was hosted in Kenya after decades since it was last hosted in the country.

2. Tokyo Olympics

Although it was not particularly happening on Kenyan soil, the Tokyo Olympics were practically an event of national interest. From watching Faith Kipyegon and Eliud Kipchoge defend their Olympic titles in their different disciplines to other medalists like Emmanuel Korir and Peres Jepchirchir, Kenyans were happy about the event.

The Building Bridges Initiative ruling was made at the Court of Appeal where all Kenyans were expecting that it could go either way. It could either pass or put to a stop.

3. World Under 20 Championships

Kenya was privileged to host the World Under 20 Championships in Nairobi. The event was made colourful by up and coming names like Serem, Wanyonyi, Christine Mboma of Namibia among others.

5. KipKeino Classic

Kenyans were graced with the excitement of watching Faith Kipyegon do what she does best (win Gold medals) at the Kasarani Stadium. It was at the same event that saw sprinter Ferdinand Omanyala get crowned as the fastest man in Kenya and Africa at the 100 M distance.
