Gor Mahia played their first match of the CAf qualifications round against All Ahly Merowe of Sudan.The Kogallo team lined up a squad of players with experience, with some of them having played in the competition last season.Some like Benson Omalla finally got their chance and he didn't let the team down.
The visitors took the lead in the first half and many probably thought the journey was over for Gor Mahia.However Gor Mahia seemingly had other thoughts to unleash the beast mode in the second half.
Samuel Onyango scored the equaliser in the 58th minute and Gor Mahia kept knocking for the second goal.Youngster Benson Omalla then gave Gor Mahia the lead in the 66th minute via a cool header.
Tanzanian Jules Ulimwengu would later add more pain to the Sudanese outfit as he netted the third goal in the 71st minute.
The match ended 3:1 as Gor Mahia took away all the three points.
