It an evening with worrying news from the ministry of health as they have reported an increase in positivity rates of covid 19. From a sample size of 2 989 that were tested over the past 24 hours, four hundred and eighty six of them turned out to be positive. This resulted to a positivity rate of 16.3%. This is an increase again from 11.8% that was recorded on April 11, 2021.
Kenyans who had raised their emotions due to the constant decrease of the positivity rates over the past few weeks are now disappointed and worried whether the pandemic will be alleviated any time soon. All they wished for is a constant decrease of the positivity rates that could eventually lead to flattening of the curve. This has turned out to be the opposite considering the values that were recorded today.
However, if I make comparisons with other countries like Italy, United States etc, it is clear that Kenya is roughly better in terms of the number of positivity rates being recorded. Kenyans have suggested a serious intervention of prayers throughout the country as one of the ways the virus could be done away with.
The most important thing that remains now is for Kenyans to have a second thought on the approach to the pandemic. People have died to the deadly virus while others are now in hospitals. The economy has declined due to the surge of the virus that has limited the inputs from different sectors within and outside Kenya.
Don't be tired to sanitize more often, seek vaccination and stay at home.
