Arteta's £6.8 Million Ace Is Opening Another Beautiful Aspect Of Arteta's Rebuild

In the current season, Arsenal had an important issue to solve regarding their leftback position, and they did so with a £6.8 million bid that went on to sign Nuno Tavares from Benfica, and what a signing he has been.

Tavares has deservedly performed the work for which he was signed, and Arsenal need not struggle if Kieran Tierney is unable to play, a situation they had to endure last season. Watching Tavares flawlessly rock Arsenal's left wing in recent weeks has been encouraging, and he is currently basking in glory following his impressive performance last weekend against Newcastle, where he set up Saka for Arsenal's first goal in the 2-0 win.

Although Tavares' success is beneficial to Arteta, it leaves Arteta with the difficult decision of whether to play him or Tierney. Many will not object to Tavares starting ahead of Tierney against Manchester United on Thursday, but after Tavares' struggles against Liverpool, some will prefer Tierney to play due to his Premier League experience.

To make progress, Arteta must now recognize that he has two excellent leftbacks at his disposal, and constant rotation should be the rule. Tierney is a fast, skilled player who attacks defenders and has the ability to score, but Tavares is also brilliant in his own right, making brilliant runs, growing into the game, and having an appetite for creating assists. Tavares and Tierney are both excellent options.
