Big Blow to Football Lovers as FKF Caretaker Committee Suspends Five Major Leagues in the Country

Just a day after Football Federation of Kenya caretaker committee was appointed by CS Sports Amb. Amina Mohamed, they have suspended five leagues in the country for a period of two weeks. 

On its first day of operation, the committee led by Retired Justice Aaron Ringera agreed that the FKF Premier League, National Super League, Division One league, Women's Premier League and Women's Division One League are suspended effective Friday. 

Giving reasons for their move, the committee said that the decision was reached in order for them to regularization of he league activities across the country.

"This decision has been reached to ensure regularization of t he league activities across the country. The committee will be engaging with clubs and other football stakeholder.Ringera and his members however agreed that leagues at branch and sub branch level will continue as normal without any disruption.

"We wish to reassure all lovers of Kenyan football that the committee will ensure smooth operations of all football activities across the country and beyond," added the statement.   

Immediately after Amb. Mohamed disbanded the existing members of FKF, FIFA expressed its concerns and indicated that it was ready to mediate an impasse between Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed and FKF officials, led by Nick Mwendwa who still holds that he is in-charge of the federation.
