It is understood that Cristiano Ronaldo and Erik Ten Hag are not seeing eye to eye at the moment and there is a big chance that once more, the Portuguese striker will not start against Brentford over the weekend. Ten Hag is keen on ensuring that his authority is not undermined and by playing Ronaldo as a starter against Brentford will send the wrong message to his admirers. The situation between Ten Hag and Cristiano Ronaldo is still frail at the moment, and things could get even worse in the near future if Manchester United continue slipping down to rock bottom of the Premier League table.
Jorge Mendes is still on his witch hunt for a new club for Ronaldo but as each day passes, it becomes increasingly clear that Ronaldo currently has no option but to see out his contract with Manchester United. Ten Hag will have to clear out his misunderstandings with the Portuguese striker if he wants to reap what the 37 year old has to offer to the club.
Manchester United have completely lost the chance to sign former Real Madrid attacker Isco after the 28 year recently penned a four year contract with Sevilla. According to Fabrizio Romano, Isco chose to join Sevilla after holding convincing talks with the club’s manager Julen Lopetegui despite strong interest from other power house clubs in Europe. Joining Sevilla’s attacking lineup will definitely earn him the chance to capture Luis Enrique’s attention as he drafts the perfect squad to compete in the World Cup competitions.
Erik Ten Hag has been very clear about his intentions to sign new reinforcements and Isco was among the long list of players considered for a move to the club. With his experience in attack, Isco would have offered more diversity in offensive play and probably unlock Rashford’s and Sancho’s potential. A move to the Old Trafford would have been more beneficial than a move to Sevilla who are a strong team but have low chances of satisfying the player’s standards of a great team.
