Ulinzi Stars goalkeeper James Saruni has been recalled to the national team to provide cover in the goalkeeping department; ahead of the Harambee Stars second leg FIFA 2022 Qatar World Cup qualifier against Mali set for Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The goalkeeper who won the golden glove last season in the FKF Premier League was not included in the final 25 man squad despite featuring in Engin Firat's first 34 man provisional squad.
Harambee Stars travelled to Morocco for the first leg with goalkeepers Ian Otieno, Brian Bwire and Farouk Shikalo but things were thick for Zambian based keeper Ian Otieno, who plays for Zesco United.
Ian Otieno had his place taken by Farouk Shikalo at the start of the second half after conceding four goals in the first half. However, Farouk conceding one goal making the tally 5-0 in Mali's favour.
In today's training session, Ian Otieno was not involved at all with Saruni replacing him. Bwire and Shikalo also took part in the team session.
