(Zena Cheptoo and Cherotich running at Kasarani)
Zena Cheptoo was placed at the second position after Ethiopia's athlete Wudu who was second and another Ugandan athlete who was third at the race were disqualified for line infringement. The two athletes ran in the inside of the running coarse during the last lap and thus they were disqualified leaving Cheptoo to snatch the silver medal.
Cheptoo's team mate finished in the sixth place thus missing a medal.
This brings the total of medals by Kenya to be thirteen. This has happened just some minutes after our own runner snatched the Gold medal for me 1500 metres steeplechase.
It being just Wednesday when our own athlete was disqualified for line infringement, it is now up to the coaches to train our young stars to avoid these mistakes.
Congrats to our young stars for the great honour they have accorded Kenya.
