Manchester United has a good squad depth in the current season compared to the previous seasons when Ole Gunnar took over. The club has heavily invested in quality players during the transfer window. However, the only problem that the club is experiencing now is the lack of a proper defensive midfielder.
Ole Gunnar has been using Fred and Scott McTominay since last season as defensive midfielders. However, these two stars are not always consistent particularly Fred who keeps on losing possession in the midfield area.
The Norwegian can replace Fred with Donny Van De Beek who has been reduced to warming the bench. He has been outstanding this season when given a chance to play this season. In addition to that, he played this at his position very well while he was still at Ajax.
Ole Gunnar should consider dropping Fred from the starting lineup and replace him, Donny van de Beek.
