France Star Announces His Retirement From International Football

After their FIFA World Cup title loss to Argentina, things seems to be going against France fans wishes.Current updates indicate that Karim Benzema who failed to make any appearance at the just concluded FIFA World Cup in Qatar due to a thigh injury has announced his retirement from international football.

Born in LYON, France to Algerian parents, Karim Benzema began his national team career with France U17 side in 2004 and progressed through the youth sides to mark his senior team debut in 2007.He did not play for the national team between 2015-2021 after being implicated in a blackmail scandal in 2015.

With the French team, he went on to score a total of 37 goals in 97 appearances becoming France 5th highest all time top goal scorer.Some of his achievements with the national team include a UEFA European U17 Championship title in 2004, a UEFA Nations League title in 2021 and finally the 2022 FIFA World Cup runners up position.
