David Lekuta Rudisha, the world 800m record holder, was hospitalized after being involved in a plane crash on Saturday, December 10.
Athletics Kenya official Barnaba Korir confirmed the incident, stating that the light aircraft crashed-landed in the Imbirikana area of Amboseli.
Korir confirmed that the Olympic champion had been injured and was being treated at a hospital in Makindu.
"I have spoken to Rudisha on phone and he told me that he has been attended to and is out of danger," he told the Nation.
According to Kenyans the images obtained of the world champion posing beside the overturned plane, his clothes soiled with dirt.
He explained that the Nairobi-bound light plane crashed shortly after taking off from Kimana Wildlife Sanctuary.
All of the other passengers on board, including Kenya Defence Forces athletics chairman Stephen Ole Marai, were receiving medical attention as well.
