Mikel Arteta Press Conference Briefing.
Mikel Arteta on summer transfers: “We will see. We are planning what’s going to happen in the summer. It will depend on where we finish, how we finish. I think what we had in December is unprecedented. To do the amount of transactions we had to make tells you where we are.”
Arteta: “I think it was very much needed & you want to improve, you want to do that. Externally acquiring players to go to the next level. Everything is planned & let’s see what the market can bring & what the last few months can bring to the club.”
Arteta On Loanees
Mikel Arteta on Saliba & other loanees development: “We’re having meetings very often to assess what they’re doing & obviously we’re getting all the information & watching their games because I want to keep a close eye on what they’re doing.”
Arteta: “We were talking yesterday for example with Ben Knapper, our loan manager, who is in charge of monitoring everything & we are in contact with the players. Let’s see. It’s good news they are playing & it’s good news they have the possibility to have a lot of minutes.”
Arsenal and West Ham United are among those paying an increasingly keen interest in Brentford striker, Ivan Toney. If Brentford fail to go up in the next 2 months there's a good chance they will bid farewell to him, deeming a fee of close to £30million acceptable.
Allan Smith(Football London)
Lacazette's Potential Departure.
Calcio Mercato: AS Roma's dream striker target this summer is Alexandre Lacazette. The player has been close to Roma for years and this summer could well represent the right time for a move to finally take place
David Ornstein had reported months ago that we rejected a late bid from Roma for Lacazette in the summer.
It will be interesting to see if Roma return. With one year left on his contract and an extension looking unlikely, Roma might come again for him.
Odegaard's future as a gunner
Martin Odegaard wants to speak face to face with Zinedine Zidane to know what his role will be at the club next season before making a decision to return or try to leave again on loan to Arsenal. Real has put a 'non-transferable' label on the Norwegian.
Bellerin's Potential Replacement.
Fabrizio Romano on Tariq Lamptey (Brighton): “For sure, next summer, can happen something big for him. Arsenal are looking at him as possible option at right-back. Keep an eye on Arsenal because they are among the clubs interested in Lamptey.”
“There is still nothing advanced, there is still nothing signed. Nothing serious yet, but they’re looking at him, he’s on the list, he’s considered an interesting player, so Arsenal will decide the future in the coming months.”
Arsenal still have Houssem Aouar on their radar. Juventus also have a desire to acquire his services. Lyon have set a €55m price tag on the player & are not willing to offer any discounts, despite the current economic climate.
Matteo Guendouzi is not expected to play for Arsenal again.
An Arsenal source told Football Insider Mikel Arteta has made it clear he is not part of his plans for next season, with Arsenal confident they will find a buyer at close to their £25m asking price.
