1. Simba SC
It is a Tanzania based club and the only club from East Africa to reach the quater finals of the CAF champions league twice, it is also considered as the toughest club from the region to play with.
2. Gor Mahia
It is a Kenya based club, despite the fact that it is currently facing a lot of financial problems it is still one of the best clubs in the region due to the high game that it displays in the pitch.
This is a Uganda based club, though much is not known about it, it is still one of the best clubs for it is the current defending champions of the CECAFA tournament.
4. Younger FC
It is based in Tanzania and is known to be the arch rivals of Simba SC, they are currently holding the second position in the Vodacom premier league.
5. AFC Leopards
AFC Leopards is a Kenya based club and three times defending champions of the CECAFA tournament.
