The current Fastest Man in Africa and the Eighth-fastest of all time

Most athletes have shown their impressive capabilities of running so fast especially in short races. Usain Bolt from Jamaica is the fastest man in history across the world with a record of 9.58s. Here is the Kenyan athlete who currently holds the title in Africa.

Ferdinand Omurwa Omanyala is the fastest man in Africa after breaking the continent’s 100 metres record. He ran 9.77 seconds at Saturday’s Kip Keino Classic meeting in Nairobi breaking the mark of 9.85s set by South Africa’s Akani Simbine. His time makes him the eighth-fastest man of all time, despite finishing second to the USA’s Trayvon Bromell who also set a new personal best of 9.76s.

Omanyala is a 25-year-old man who started his athletics career in 2016. The former rugby player later served a 14-month doping ban in 2017 after returning a positive drugs test for a banned substance, which he says was in a painkiller he took. He said that the unfortunate experience is what shaped him to be the person he is today.
