The battle to secure a Champions League crown in 2022-23 is well and truly on, with some of the finest goalscorers in world football looking to lead charges for both collective and individual honors. A Golden Boot in continental competition is up for grabs, with the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Robert Lewandowski, and Erling Haaland figuring prominently on a list of potential leading scorers.
Erling Haaland moved ahead of Mohamed Salah at the top of this season's UEFA Champions League scoring charts after hitting five against Leipzig to take his tally to ten.
The Norwegian forward struck five times in the group stage and, after drawing a blank against Leipzig in the round of 16 first leg, doubled his season's tally by becoming only the third player to score five in a Champions League matches in the second leg to propel Manchester City into the quarter-finals.
That took the 22-year-old two goals clear of Salah, with the eliminated Kylian Mbappé on seven and Vinícius Júnior and João Mário among the chasing pack.
Mbappé can no longer add to his haul after Paris were eliminated by Bayern, but João Mário and Benfica are already in the last eight while Real Madrid's Vinícius Júnior is set to face Liverpool in the round of 16 second leg.
