Since it's announcement on 28th November 2019 by FIFA President Gianni Infantino, CAF Super League has been under discussion since then.Recent updates indicate that Africa football governing body CAF under the president Patrice Motsepe has finally confirmed that the first edition of the tournament will be launched in August 2023.
Further details indicate that the tournament's prize money for the winning club will be $100 million which translates to Ksh 11.7 billion.With the format of the annual tournament still unconfirmed, the event is expected to be played against 24 of the elite African clubs.For a club to participate in the tournament it will be expected to have an academy and a women's team as well.
The essence of the tournament is the huge financial returns that will exceed the barrier of $200 million and which will be useful in the development and improvement of stadiums and infrastructure as well as in the promotion of football in Africa.
