Harambee stars defender Joseph Okumu has made history by winning his first silverware in Belgium after his side KAA Gent edged Vincent Kompany coached side Anderlecht FC on a post match penalties. The side won 4.3 to clinch the cup.Okumu becomes the first Kenyan to win a trophy in Belgium with the likes of Johana Omollo, Ayub Timbe and Victor Wanyama failing to win any trophy during their stint in Belgium

Joseph Okumu joined the side last season from Swedish allavaskan side Elfsborg and has nailed a starting role in the side since breaking into the first team.Okumu's side were amazing during the cup matches beating the likes of Club Brugge on their way to the final.Another Harambee Stars defender Eugene Asike has also joined a European club as he looks to follow the footsteps of Harambee Stars defender Joseph Okumu. The two played for Harambee stars during the World Cup qualifiers. Asike has joined IF Karlstad Fotbol, a third tier side in Sweden.
