Good news to football fans as state-owned media house Kenya Broadcasting Cooperation (KBC) has announced that it will air eight sports events for free in a bid to in attract Kenyans to get channel.
The media house announced that it had obtained rights to air international matches including matches from European top flight leagues. KBC have acquired licences to air DFB-Pokal which is a German domestic Cup. Kenyans will now be able to watch elite teams such as Borrusia Dortmund and Bayern Munich for free.
In addition, the channel will also air the FIFA World Cup scheduled to start this November in Qatar.
Other events to be featured by the local TV station are; World Athletics Championship, World Under 20 Athletics, Rugby League 4 and the world half marathon.
This move comes after an announcement by the Kenyan High Court to ban all websites streaming sports events for free. Among the banned websites are;
