Chelsea edged past Leicester City in a hot match played at Stamford Bridge. This match was highly marked by various pundits that it was going to be a tough match and more of a revenge for Chelsea against Leicester City who defeated them on Saturday's FA Cup final played at Wembley. The former game was won by a solitary goal scored by Belgian midfielder Tielesman.
Heading to this match, Leicester stood at 3rd position with 66 points and 21 goal difference, Chelsea at 4th position with 64 points and 22 goal difference and Liverpool at 5th position with 63 points and 21 goal difference. This then meant that the winner of this match could have put their top four finish at a clear position with only a match remaining.
Antonio Rudiger stepped up for this match and opened the scoring at the 46th minute from a corner kick ball half cleared by Vardy. 20 minutes later, Jorginho finished up from the spot to earn Chelsea the highly needed 3 points. Substitute Kelechi Iheanacho, who has been on fine form recently, scored the consolation goal in the 76th minute.
Chelsea will still need to win their last match away against Aston Villa on Sunday 18:00 HRS (EAT). Leicester City will face Tottenham Hotspurs same day same time at home.
