Sunderland destroyed Norwich City 1-0 at Carrow Road Stadium to claim a clean sheet victory and all the 3 points. Sunderland goal was scored in the 15th minute by Abdullah Ba after being assisted by Gelhardt to seal a 1-0 victory. Norwich City tried to salvage a point by bringing in Sargent, Jacob Lungi, Marqhuinhos and Tzolis as substitutes for Idah, Aarons, Hernandez and Nunez but could not score as they wasted all chances created.
Following the 1-0 win, Sunderland climbed above 11th placed Watford to position 10 in the Premier League Promotion Table Standings with 52 points while Norwich City dropped to position 7 with 55 points. Burnley lead the Championship table with 80 points, 13 clear points above 2nd placed Sheffield United while Middlesbrough are in position 3 with 63 points and Luton Town are 4th with 60 points. Blackpool, Wigan and Huddersfield are in the drop zone and could be relegated to League 1 if they do not improve.
