Ovella Ochieng was recalled to the national team after being left out of for long. However, he has turned down the offer saying that he will be focusing on settling down at his new club.
Harambee Stars coach Engin Firat revealed that Ovella Ochieng would not be checking in at the national team camp with the team preparing to play against Mali in a World Cup qualifier.
In an open media session, coach Firat said that the player was excused from joining the Stars camp to concentrate on club duties.
Ovella, a former Kariobangi Sharks player took to social media to explain his decision of snubbing Harambee Stars call up.
The former Vasalund of Sweden player said that he was delighted with the call up but has chosen to spend time settling down with his new club as well as sorting out some of the paperwork that has delayed his registration.
However, he was thanked his family and Tusker FC's team doctor Enos Karani for sticking by him during his difficult moments (career threatening injury).
Ovella recently joined South African Premier Soccer League outfit Marumo Gallants, reuniting with former Harambee Stars coach Sebastien Migne on a long term contract.
