Ferdinand Omanyala Breaks The National Record In 100 meters

Ferdinand Omanyala has brocken the national record in 100 meters race after finishing 3rd in heat 5 today using 10.01 seconds .

He has also brocken his personal best and qualified for semifinals. He is the first Kenyan to ever reached the semifinals of the 100 meters race in Olympics.

Canadian Andre De Grasse won the race using 9.91 seconds , 10 seconds less than Kenyan Omanyala. Mark Otieno , the other Kenyan did not perticipate in the heats after failing a doping test. He has however posted in his Twitter account that he has appealed for the test to be repeated citing his adherence to the rules of the game. He has admitted to be innocent and wondered what happened with the tests.

Omanyala has been a very hard working athlete and his dreams are finally coming true. He will be hoping to maintain or improve his time during the semifinals. It will be a very big milestone if he reaches the finals and even win a medal for Kenya.
